Lo que encontré

Al parecer no puedo tener las manos quietas y me gustan más de lo que pensaba los proyectos interminables. Como me he quedado sin nada que hacer, pensé en hacerme una colcha. Se lo comenté a mi madre y me dijo que teníamos una a medio hacer en algún lado, que por qué no la terminaba. Así que aquí estoy, embarcándome en otro de mis farragosos proyectos.

Lo empezó mi tía a principio de los 70 y mi madre lo continuó en los 80. Rescatado del fondo del Baúl de los Recuerdos, estoy decidida a terminarlo... algún día.

Cosas que hacer:
1. Averiguar cuál es el patrón, el hilo y el ganchillo.
2. Hacer y coser las piezas que faltan.
3. Hacer las esquinas de modo que no arrastren por el suelo.
4. Hacerle un borde chulo.

What I found

It seems I can't keep my hands still and I love neverending projects. Not having anything to do at the moment, I thought of making a bedspread. Told it to mother and she said we had an unfinished one somewhere, why don't you finish it. So here I am, embarking on another laborious project!

My aunt started this beadspread in the early 70s and my mother enlarged it in the 80s. I recovered it from the bottom of the Treasure Chest and am resolved to finish it... someday.

Things to do:
1. Figure out the pattern, the yarn and the hook.
2. Crochet and attach missing pieces.
3. Design the corners so they don't trail along the ground.
4. Design a nice trim.

Hello Kitty handbag

Bolso Rosa

Y un año después, el bolso está terminado. Visto así no parece gran cosa, la verdad, pero me ha costado más de un empujoncito para terminarlo (¡Gracias, Libby!). Eso y encontrar una tela bonita que me gustara para el forro. Quería una que fuera rosa con un estampado de Hello Kitty pero no encontré ninguna que se adaptara a lo que estaba buscando, de modo que al final opté por el camino más rápido y fui a la tienda del barrio. Y encontré este algodón rosa con lunares blancos...

Tan sólo me falta hacerle un cierre (el bolso está totalmente abierto) pero no me decido. Cremallera y velcro están descartados ¿alguna otra sugerencia?

Pink Handbag

One year later the bag is finished. It looks simple, uh? But I need a lot of encouragement to finish it -thanks, Libby!. Well, that and a cute fabric to make the lining. I wanted it to be pink with little Hello Kitties print but couldn't find a suitable one. I ended going to the local store and found this pink cotton with white polka dots.

The only thing left is something as a clasp, but I don't want a zip or velcro. Ideas?

A petición de Xarochita subo el patrón de manta 'Autumn Afghan'. Es un simple diseño en zig-zag que se puede ampliar tanto como se quiera hasta conseguir el tamaño deseado. Lo descargué de la red pero no recuerdo de dónde.

Mi amiga Libby me ha seleccionado para realizar un pequeño juego. Estas son las reglas:

Cosas sobre mí:

1. Soy hija única y nieta única. A lo mejor es por esto que me gusta la soledad y el silencio y no me van demasiado los niños.
2. Aprendí a tejer de mi madre cuando era una niña. Es la única persona de mi entorno familiar y de amigos que sabe. Casi todo el mundo cree que lo que hago es "cosa de abuelas" y se ríen de mí. Al principio me avergonzaba pero ahora que veo un montón de gente joven por la red que también teje ya no.
3. Con tres o cuatro años, cuando estaba en la guardería, ya sabía leer. Los otros niños no sabían y en aquel entonces cuando estabamos en clase pensaba que eran muy tontos porque "A" quería decir "A". Por supuesto. ¡Si yo lo veía clarísimo! ¿Ellos por qué no?
4. En realidad, poca gente sabe que no he terminado la carrera, normalmente dan por hecho que sí y yo no les corrijo, porque si lo hago automáticamente me avasallan a preguntas que no quiero contestar. Los que sí lo saben me dicen que vuelva a la Universidad y termine, pero creo que soy lo suficientemente lista y no necesito ningún papel que lo atestigüe.
5. Sé escribir y leer en inglés pero lo cierto es que no sé hablarlo, porque he aprendido a base de leer libros y comics y no tengo con quien practicar. Puedo charlar un poco si mi interlocutor es británico y habla despacio. ¡Qué cutre!
6. No me gusta nada el chocolate. En serio.

Y a mí me gustaría saber más sobre Mariel y Francesc :)

Random things about me:

1. I'm an only child and only grandchild. Maybe this is why I enjoy being quiet and alone and am not fond of children.
2. I learnt how to knit and crochet from my mother as a child. She's the only person among my family and friends who does. Almost everybody else thinks what I do is just 'old ladies' stuff' and laughs at me. At first I was ashamed but now seeing so many young people crafting in the net I am not anymore.
3. I already knew how to read when I was 3 or 4 yrs old, in the nursery school. Other children didn't and back then when we were at class I thought they were silly because 'A' meant 'A'. Of course. I could see it clearly! Why they didn't?
4. Few people knows I didn't finish my career, they usually think I did and I don't correct them because they automatically start making questions I don't want to answer. Those who know tell me to go back to University and finish it but I think I'm clever enough and don't need a paper to state it.
5. I can only write and read in English but not actually speak it because I've learned reading books and comics but don't have anyone to practice with. I can chat a little if the other person is Brittish and speaks slowly. Lame!
6. I dislike chocolate. Seriously.

Autumn Afghan -finished

Dormitorio otoñal

Anoche le hicimos las borlas y terminamos la manta. Mi madre está realmente orgullosa de sí misma, jajajaja. Aquí os dejo una foto en la que podéis ver que incluso hace juego con el edredón de la cama. Creo que queda claro cuál es mi gama de colores preferida... la otoñal. ;-)

Y ésta es una foto del detalle de las borlas que hemos hecho. En Nezumiworld tenéis un tutorial fantástico para aquellos que queráis hacer borlas y no sepáis cómo. Os animo a intentarlo, son muy sencillas.

Autumn bedroom

Tassels were attached yesterday and the afghan is done! Mum is very proud of herself hehehe. This is a picture I took of the afghan on my bed, it matches my duvet too. My favourite colours are easy to guess, aren't they? Autumn ones! ;-)

Autumn Afghan -2nd step

Tan sólo pasaba a saludar: estamos terminando cosas pendientes y no hay tiempo para empezar nuevos proyectos.
Mi madre está a punto de terminar la manta de colores otoñales pero no me deja hacerle ninguna foto hasta que esté acabado. Le va a añadir un borde de dos pasadas en color verde alrededor de la manta y después le haremos borlas para que cuelguen de los picos. ¡Como sacado de la Edad Media! Ya tengo ganas de ver las borlitas colgando de mi cama. :-D
Por mi parte tengo entre manos otra mantita de bebé para regalar, pero de momento no puedo dar más pistas. ;-)

Just wanted to say hello. We're busy finishing our projects and there's no time to start new ones.
Mum is about to finish the ripple autumn afghan but doesn't want me to take any photo until it's done. She's adding two rows with green yarn all around as a border and then we'll make tassels to attatch to the peaks. Middle Ages inspired? Can't wait to see multicoloured tassels hanging on my bed! :-D
On the other hand, I'm also busy making another baby afghan to give but at this moment I can't tell you about it or I'll spoil the surprise. ;-)
