$6.50 Sweater - 2nd step

He estado jugueteando un poco con mi jersey y el photoshop. Tejer desde el cuello hacia abajo es una pasada y probarte la prenda mientras tanto muy divertido. ¡Parece que me va a dar tiempo a terminarlo antes de que llegue el frío!

I have been playing a little with my sweater and photoshop. Knitting top-down is awesome and trying the garment on a lot of fun. Looks like I will be able to finish it before the cold weather arrives!

He tenido tiempo de probarme, medirme, tejer y deshacer hasta conseguir las medidas apropiadas para mí (que para variar no coinciden con las del patrón). Mientras tejo, voy tomando nota de todo para crear el "jersey tipo" con el que el día de mañana pueda hacerme cualquier diseño que me guste sin tener que hacer tantos cálculos.

I had time enough to try it on, measure, knit and frog till I got the right amount of stitches (as always, the original pattern does not fit me). At the same time, I have been writing down all the modifications I made so in the future I can adapt any design I like to this "model sweater".

$6.50 Sweater - 1st step

Llevo queriendo hacerme un jersey morado desde hace un tiempo y tenía planeado tejer uno para este otoño. Sin embargo, de vez en cuando echaba una ojeada a esa pila inmensa de ovillos a la cual tomé una foto el pasado abril y que no ha bajado su volumen a pesar de mis esfuerzos... Vale, no he hecho tampoco ningún esfuerzo, pero es que no puedo pensar en hacer nada decente con todos esos ovillos sueltos.

I have been wanting a purple sweater for a while and planned to knit one this autumn. However, from time to time, I went back to that stash picture I took last April and couldn't help but notice that it hasn't decreased a bit despite my efforts - OK, not much effort really. I just couldn't think of something good enough to make with all those unmatching skeins. I absolutely cannot buy more yarn!

Y entonces me di cuenta: ¡pero sí ya tenía un ovillo morado! Lástima que lo había comprado para hacer una mantita de zig-zag que tenía planeada desde hacía tiempo... (lo sé, tengo que dejar de planear y ponerme a tejer). Lástima que un pedazo de ovillo de 200g. no sea suficiente para tapar esta miniatura de cuerpo que tengo... Ah, pero espera: si también están el azul y el sandía que compré con el morado. ¿A lo mejor podría hacerme un jersey a rayas? ¿Manga ranglan y tejido de arriba a bajo sin costuras? :-D

And then I saw it: I had a purple skein already! Too bad I bought it for a ripple blanket I have been planning for a while (...seriously, I ought to stop planning and start knitting). Too bad a big 7oz. skein is not enough to cover this little body of mine. But, oh, I also had that blue and watermelon skeins that came with the purple one. Maybe I could make a striped sweater with them? A top-down seamless ranglan sweater? :-D

Sibolette

Mis cuadraditos para el proyecto SIBOL de Mrs. Twins han llegado hoy y ella ha sido muy amable al sacar un montón de fotos, lo cual me alegra porque olvidé sacarlas yo antes de enviar el paquete y me gusta llevar la cuenta de todos los proyectos que hago, sean grandes o pequeños.

My squares for Mrs. Twins' SIBOL project arrived today and she was very kind to take a lot of pictures of them. I am glad because I didn't take any before sending them and I like to keep track of every project I make, small or big!

Además el paquete incluía un par de extras: una toallita del maravilloso patrón de Tea (esta vez lo tejí tal cual, sin modificaciones; no me canso de este patrón) y el famoso tapete de las piñas que llevó a Sonieta de cabeza durante un tiempecito. ;-) ¡Así que ahora ya se sabe quien era la misteriosa destinataria del tapete!

I also sent her a couple of extra items within the squares parcel: a white&pink cloth I made with Tea's wonderful pattern (this time I crocheted the pattern as it is and I don't seem to get enough of it) and the pineapple doily that made Sonieta go crazy for a while. ;-) So now the mysterious recipient of the doily has been disclosed!

Dragonfly stitch markers

Para marcar esos puntos clave cuando tejemos se puede usar simplemente un trozo de lana con nudo corredizo o unos aros de plástico que sean lo suficientemente anchos para que quepan las agujas. Desgraciadamente para mí, tiendo a perder los hilos (o a tejerlos en la prenda) y a romper los aritos de plástico... Por esta razón, gracias a este tutorial me he hecho unos marcadores de puntos bastante resistentes (¡y muy monos!). Lo único que deseo ahora es que la lana no se enganche y se me eche a perder el invento.

To mark those key stitches when knitting you can just use scraps of yarn tied in a slip knot or use simple plastic rings wide enough for the needle to fit them up. Unfortunately, I tend to either lose the scraps or knit them into the project or break the plastic rings. lol That's why I came up with these sturdy and cute stitch markers thanks to this tutorial. My only wish now is they won't catch on the yarn!

Hilo: dos ovillos Katia Samba fucsia (uno para cada calcetín). 100% algodón.
Agujas: 2,5 mm.
Talla: 35 (europea).
Patrón: Miss (I)ssipi Socks de Lolita Blahnik.
Modificaciones: monté sólo 56 puntos e hice el elástico 3/1 para que luciera mejor el hilo.

Yarn: 2 skeins of 100% cotton Katia Samba. Colour fuchsia.
Needles: 2.5 mm / US1½
Size: EU 35.
Pattern: Miss (I)ssipi Socks by Lolita Blahnik (tutorial - Spanish only).
Mods: CO 56 sts and changed ribbing to 3/1 to bring out the yarn.

Shell Bag

Es el momento de rescatar otro proyecto acabado que había sido olvidado en el fondo de un cajón. ¿Alguien se acuerda de cuando escribí que había recibido mi primer encargo? Aunque, al ser para un familiar cercano, no me pagaron nada... ¡Pero me hizo tan feliz saber que alguien quería algo que yo hubiera hecho a mano! Me pidieron que hiciera un bolso parecido al mío y esto fue lo que hice, sobrio y discreto.

It's time for another FO that was forgotten in the drawer. Remember when I wrote I had my first commission? As it was for a beloved relative, I wasn't paid. Oh, but it made me so happy that someone wanted something handmade by me! I was asked to make a bag similar to mine and this is what I came up with - sober & discreet.

Little big mourning bag ♥

Hilo: 100% algodón mercerizado Omega Sinfonía color negro.
Ganchillo: 3,5 mm.
Tamaño: 25 x 40 cm. aprox.
Patrón: pág. 91 de la revista Keito Dama nº 137 (Primavera 2008). Japonés con esquema.
Modificaciones: para hacerlo más grande empecé con 44 cadenetas e hice un total de 44 pasadas, aumentando proporcionalmente. Sin embargo, para mi gusto pierde la forma original y si lo volviera a tejer, no modificaría nada.

Yarn: 100% mercerised cotton yarn Omega Sinfonia. Colour black.
Hook: 3.5 mm /US E.
Size: 25 x 40 cm (10" x 16") approx.
Pattern: page 91 crochet bag from Keito Dama no. 137 (Spring 2008). Japanese with chart.
Modifications: started with ch-44 and increased evenly to make it bigger. 44 rows. However, it kinda loses its original shape and I wouldn't add a single stitch if I had to crochet it again.

Ya sé que tocaba empezar con un "¡Por fin estamos a septiembre!" pero por esta vez me abstendré. Será mejor que no espere a que ocurran las cosas sino que las deje llegar a su ritmo, como debe ser. :-)

I know I should have started this post with "September is here! Yay!" but I will refrain this time. I better don't wait for things to happen but just let them come smoothly as they should. :-)
