He aquí otra Baby Surprise Jacket, la Rebeca de las Rebecas, esta vez en rosa y lila. Esta también se va en avión para cruzar medio mundo, espero que a su destinataria le guste. Como no había pingüinos lila, lleva botones de caramelito.

Yet another Baby Surprise Jacket, a.k.a. Cardigan of Cardigans, this time in purple and pink. This one is going overseas too. I hope the recipient likes it. As there weren't any pink penguins I sewed some candy buttons.

Hope she doesn't eat the candies!

Otro de los tesoritos que tejí este verano en mi rinconcito secreto y que acabo de terminar. ¿Por qué se hará tan farragoso terminar las cosas? Es mi mayor asignatura pendiente. A pesar de ser el tercer BSJ que aparece en mis proyectos, en realidad es el primero que tejo yo. Todo un salto de fe, como bien me dijo Piruleta, pero vale la pena lanzarse. ¡Repetiré!

Another little cutie that I knitted this summer in my secret spot and I have just finished. Why does it take me so much to finish things? I need to work on it. Although this is BSJ #3 in my projects, this is my first one. This pattern is a leap of faith as Piruleta said, and I think it is worth the 'leap'. Surely I will repeat!

Boy or girl?

Bee Bib

Este babero es para Pauet, el bebé más dormilón del mundo, hijo de unos amigos. Como (o eso creo) de vez en cuando se dan una vuelta por aquí, no quería estropearles la sorpresa. Ahora que ya está en sus manos puedo enseñarlo sin problemas.

This bib was made for Pauet (nickname for Pau), the greatest sleepyhead baby in the world and my friends' son. They sometimes visit my blog -- or so I am told -- so I didn't want to spoil the surprise. But now that the bib is with them I can show it to you here.

buzz buzz

Tan solo decir que me encanta el diseño de las abejitas y que ahora hay una aguja de bordar menos en mi costurero: acabó totalmente oxidada. ¿Alguien sabe si existen agujas inoxidables para patosas como yo?

I just want to add that I love the bee design and I have one embroidery needle less in my sewing box: it turned out all rusty! Anybody knows of rustproof needles for clumsy crafters like me?

Baby Surprise Jackets

Cuando mi madre preguntó por algún patrón mono para bebé de esos que tienes ahí en internet, intenté convencerla para que hiciera el famoso Baby Surprise Jacket (y si no, mirad cuántos proyectos se llevan hechos sólo en Ravelry). Primero tuve que descifrar y traducirle el patrón, después explicarle cómo se usan los marcadores de puntos y por último hacerle un seguimiento pasada por pasada del "patrón raro ese que me has dado, que no me sale". Todo eso para la primera chaqueta. Tras cuatro intentos y media labor deshecha en el quinto, de repente le pilló el tranquillo y ¡tachán! Chaquetita terminada en dos días. Conclusión: "voy a comprar más lana y le hago otro".

When mother requested one of those cute baby patterns you have there on the internet I tried her to make the popular Baby Surprise Jacket (just see how many projects are made on Ravelry!). First I had to figure out and translate the pattern for her, then explain how to use stitch-markers and last stay with her through every row of that "weird pattern you chose, I can't make it work". And all of this trouble just for the first jacket! After four failed attempts and a fifth ripped suddenly she got the knack of it and ta-da! Finished in just two days. In short: "I am going to buy more yarn to make a second one".

Light in the batcave is awful these days

Present for a lucky baby

¡Cuánto tiempo! Estoy resfriada (otra vez) gracias a esta ola de frío que hemos estado sufriendo en el sur de Europa durante la última semana, así que he estado de agujas caídas. Hace quince días que me apunté al Intercambio Navideño que organizan las chicas de Valencia Knits, pero debo confesar que me he descuidado por completo con la sorpresa que le tengo preparada a mi sorprendida debido a esta pereza que me entra cuando me meto bajo las mantas. ¡Mil perdones, Ms. X! Te prometo que voy a trabajar un montón este puente para ponerme al día. ;-)

It's been a while! I have a cold (again) thanks to this cold front we are suffering in Southern Europe this week so I've been craft-less all this time. A fortnight ago I signed up for a Christmas Swap with my co-crafters at Valencia Knits and I must confess I have neglected my partner's surprise due to this laziness under the blankets. Sorry Ms. X! I promise I will work hard these holidays to catch up! ;-)

Por suerte antes de todo esto pude terminar un pedido que tenía, sacarle un par de fotos y enviárselo a la persona que me lo encargó. Una niña muy afortunada que va a cumplir un añito dentro de nada va a estar guapísima con esto puesto - aunque esté mal que yo lo diga. ;-)

Fortunately before all of this I was able to finish a commission I had, take a couple of pics and send it to the person who requested it. Some lucky baby who is turning one very soon will look very pretty with these on! If I may say it myself. ;-)

Con estos dos proyectos he aprendido un par de cosas nuevas: a tejer el famoso jacquard (y a esconder los más de ¡60! cabos sueltos, paciencia de santo ha hecho falta) para la rebeca y a tejer vueltas cortas para darle la forma esférica al gorrito de aviadora. Me lo he pasado muy bien a pesar del trabajo que me ha costado. Muchas gracias A. por ponerle a esta mula la zanahoria delante. ;-) Eso sí, me da la impresión de que últimamente sólo tejo ropita de bebé... ¡y aún me queda otra rebequita! 

I have learnt two new things thanks to these projects: to knit the infamous fair isle (and to weave in more than 60! ends) with the cardigan and to knit short rows for shaping the aviatrix hat. I have had a lot of fun despite the amount of work. Thank you A. for showing me the carrot! ;-) Looks like I am only knitting baby clothes recently - and still have another little cardigan in mind!

Marta's booties

Un regalito que he hecho hace poco para una amiga, cuya sobrina nacerá dentro de nada. Debo confesar que he descubierto en ella un espíritu afín. :-)

¡El vestidito para la pequeña señorita A. ha sido todo un éxito! Incluso me preguntan cómo lo he hecho para ir cambiando de color. :-D

The dress for little Miss A. was a success! They even asked how did I make the colour changes. :-D

Ready for a cat walk?

Hilo: 1 ovillo de Mondial Cotton Soft Speciale Baby Print color "frutas del bosque". 100% algodón.
Agujas: 3 mm.
Patrón: Avita de Lomester.
Modificaciones: Monté menos puntos e hice menos pasadas para adaptar el vestido para un bebé de 0-3 meses. Empecé el punto diamante desde la sisa hasta el cuello, en total 7 repeticiones.

Yarn: 1 skein of 100% cotton variegated pink & purple Mondial Cotton Soft Speciale Baby Print.
Needles: 3 mm / US 2½.
Pattern: Avita by Lomester.
Adjustements: Casted on fewer sts than suggested and knitted fewer rows to make it fit a 0-3 months old. Made 7 pattern repeats from armhole to top.
