A Emma no la esperaba su familia hasta el día 2 de enero pero en el último momento ella decidió que era una chica de 2.013 y dio una sorpresa a sus padres el 27 de diciembre. ¡Hacía falta tejer algo rapidito para que la recién nacida tuviera el primer regalo de Reyes de su vida! Elegí tejer unas botitas con unos botones divertidos.

Lo que no ha sido una gran sorpresa ha sido comprobar que las lanas están combinadas de forma que las botitas tienen los mismos colores de mis equipos de fútbol preferidos (que son también los del padre de Emma). Espero que se dé cuenta y aprecie el detalle, jajaja.

Corazones verdes

No es la primera vez que tejo estos zapatos, ya lo hice en 2010: podéis ver las botitas de Marta aquí. ¡Me lo paso tan bien con este patrón que quiero que nazcan más bebés para poder tejer más!

Emma was expected by her family on January 2nd but at the last moment she decided she was a 2013 girl and gave a surprise to her parents on December 27th. A quick knit was in order to give the newborn the first present of her life from the Three Magi Kings! I decided to make some girly booties with fun buttons.

Not very surprisingly, when I combined the yarns I chose the booties turned out having the same colours that the footie teams which I (and Emma's father!) support have. I hope he notices and appreciates that. lol

Green hearts

I have knit these shoes before in 2010: you can see Marta's booties here. I had so much fun with this pattern that I want more babies to come to knit more of them!

So this was my first project in 2014. Is there a better way to start the new year accomplishing resolutions than knitting? I hope this is just the first of much more new projects to come!

Estreno el año con el mismo ordenador viejo pero Photoshop nuevo: ¡al fin puedo volver a hacer fotos! ¡Y actualizar! ¡Viva!

De momento aquí están los posavasos que hice durante las vacaciones de verano. Hay diez en total, dos de cada color. Me encantan esos tonos pero no sé si repetiré hilo porque, a pesar de ser un buen algodón y muy suave, está compuesto por ¡8 hebras! Una pesadilla para pasar el ganchillo por algunos puntos e intentar que no se quede ningún hilito fuera. De Japón "vinieron" y a Japón se van. ¡Espero que le gusten!

Aunque lleva más de un mes terminado, me resistía a escribir la entrada y preparar fotos hasta que no llegara el otoño "de verdad" y pudiera estrenarlo pero, visto lo visto, creo que es mejor compartirlo ya porque al paso que vamos entramos en 2.014 en manga corta por estos lares*.

Este precioso y elegante chal es el resultado del KAL misterioso que organizó Marisa para la vuelta de las vacaciones en septiembre. Su diseño es minimalista, como todo lo que ella hace, con un toque de romanticismo. ¡Simplemente me encanta!

Campos de oro

No puedo esperar a que llegue el frío para ponérmelo día sí y día también. El color me chifla y me parece estupendo para alegrar esas tristes ropas oscuras que en España nos empeñamos en usar en cuanto se esconde el sol. ♥

Modificaciones: Hice el aumento 8º en la pasada 121 y no cuando correspondía. Al ahormar no le di forma de media luna sino que lo estiré más de los extremos para que quedase alargado.

* ¡Llevamos más de 2 meses sin lluvia! ¿Qué clase de otoño es este? Dónde está el libro de reclamaciones, que firmo.

Although it has been finished for more than a month, I was reluctant to write this entry and get photos ready until autumn had come "for real" and I could wear it but apparently it is better to share it now because at this rate we will enter 2014 wearing short sleeves in this neck of the woods*.

This beautiful and elegant shawl is the result of the mysterious KAL Marisa hosted back in September after summer holidays. Its design is minimalist, like everything she does, with a romantic touch. Simply love it!

Fields of gold

I cannot wait for the cold to come to wear it day in day out. I love this colour and I think it is great to brighten up those sad dark clothes we insist on wearing in Spain whenever the sun is away. ♥

Mods: I moved the 8th increase to row 121. The shawl doesn't have a perfect half-circle shape as a result of stretching out the ends during blocking.

* It's been 2 months since it last rained! What kind of autumn is this? Where is the book of complaints, I wonder.

Otro año más. El 35 no es un número tan curioso como el 34. De hecho, poco más se puede decir sobre él excepto que es el resultado de multiplicar 7x5. No me gusta mucho. Lo pienso y me parece mentira haberlos cumplido, cierta persona no tuvo esa suerte y eso hace que me sienta un poquito culpable. Supongo que será así todos los años.

No considero este día como algo especial, más allá de que me parece una fecha bonita por la combinación de los números (todos pares, tan bonitos ellos*), así que voy a "celebrarlo" de la mejor manera que sé: leyendo, jugando y tejiendo...

My Sun is rising

One more year. Number 35 is not as special as 34. Nothing to note about it aside that it is the result you get when you multiply 7x5. I don't quite like it. I think about it and it seems like a dream to be this old. A certain person was not this lucky and I feel a bit guilty. I suppose I am to carry this burden and feel this way every year.

I don't think about this day as a special one although I find the date quite nice due to the numbers (even all of them, so cute*) so I will "celebrate" it in the best fashion I know: reading, playing and knitting!

* Hace poco descubrí que soy sinestésica. Quizás por eso la fecha me resulta bonita: sus colores para mí son suaves y serenos, elegantes.

¿Alguien se acuerda de esto? Supongo que no, han pasado tres años...

Cuando descanso de las lanas retomo mi bastidor y hago un trocito de bordado. ¡Estos últimos días he adelantado mucho! Menos mal que ya se va el verano y mis pobres manos se van recuperando del calor. Pronto podré volver a tejer pero no abandonaré mi cojín marroquí: es una promesa.

Does anybody remember this? I suppose not, it's been three years.

When I take a yarn break I pick up my embroidery frame and work a bit on it. I have done so much progress these days! Thankfully the summer is fading and my poor hands are recovering from heat. I will be able to knit again soon but I won't neglect my Moroccan cushion: this is a promise.

Olive Scabiosa Top

Marisa ha creado un nuevo diseño basado en su chal Scabiosa, aplicando el motivo principal del chal al canesú para un jersey de verano sin mangas. Suelto y sin entallar, perfecto para sobrellevar los calores del verano. Por supuesto, no he podido resistirme...

Marisa has created a new design based on her Scabiosa shawl using the main lace stitch for the yoke of a sleeveless summer top. Loose fitting, it's perfect for eduring the summer heat. Of course, I had to give in...

On the top of the Olive (tree)

Lo he llamado Olive porque los colores me recuerdan al olivo en flor. La construcción me pareció una maravilla. Muy simple y, al mismo tiempo, muy acertada: el cuello y las sisas toman forma por arte de magia.

I called it Olive because these colours remind me of a blossoming olive tree. The construction is wonderful. Simple and smart at the same time: the neckline and armhole magically take shape.
