On the top of the Olive (tree)

Lo he llamado Olive porque los colores me recuerdan al olivo en flor. La construcción me pareció una maravilla. Muy simple y, al mismo tiempo, muy acertada: el cuello y las sisas toman forma por arte de magia.

I called it Olive because these colours remind me of a blossoming olive tree. The construction is wonderful. Simple and smart at the same time: the neckline and armhole magically take shape.

Knitting Art Exhibition at Home

Se aceptan sugerencias de patrones enrevesados para nuevos calcetines siempre y cuando se comiencen por la puntera (condición imprescindible). También se aceptan consejos para aprender a girar el talón en condiciones sin dejar agujeros.

Suggestions of new difficult patterns for new socks accepted provided that they are toe-up (a must). Advice on how to turn the heel without making holes also accepted.

I have been away from blogging but not inactive!

I finished my bridal handkerchief lace after one year (so lazy).

Now I need to comb its hair weave in ends (so much work!).
I wouldn't have finished on my own without the invaluable help of A bobbin lace lover and her tutorials. Thank you very much!

Orange sponge cake

No hace mucho recibí una malísima noticia.
Decidí combatirla ocupando mi mente y mis manos en la cocina.
Pedí la receta y me la dieron...

Does anybody remember this cake?
I received very bad news not long ago.
So I decided to fight them in the kitchen making myself busy.
I asked for the recipe and I got it...

BIZCOCHO DE NARANJA

Almíbar

1 vaso de azúcar
1 vaso de agua
1 naranja a rodajas

• Hervir hasta que el azúcar esté deshecho y la naranja blandita.

Bizcocho

1 vaso de harina
1 vaso de azúcar
1 vaso de aceite suave de oliva o girasol
4 huevos
1 sobre de levadura Royal
Caramelo líquido para el molde

• Poner el caramelo en el molde y después las rodajas de naranja.
• Levantar las claras y añadir el resto de ingredientes.
• Poner al horno 180ºC 45 minutos.
• Pinchar y añadir el almíbar cuando se saque del horno y dejar reposar.
• Darle la vuelta para servir.

ORANGE SPONGE CAKE

Syrup

1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
1 finely sliced orange

• Boil until the sugar is melted and the orange is softened.

Sponge cake

1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of olive or sunflower oil
4 eggs
1 sachet of baking powder
Caramel for the mould

• Pour the caramel in the mould and add the orange slices.
• Beat whites until almost stiff and add the remaining ingredients.
• Put in the oven at 180ºC (350ºF) for 45 mins.
• Take the cake out, prick it and pour the syrup over. Let it settle.
• Turn it upside-down to serve.

At the park

Un placer tejer con esta mezcla de merino y algodón, muy suave y delicada, en compañía de otras treinta y pico tejedoras (ningún hombre esta vez) en el tejijuntas que organizó su diseñadora, Marisa.

It has been a pleasure to knit with this merino and cotton blend, very soft and delicate, with another thirty something knitters (only women) at the KAL organized by the designer, Marisa.

On the bench

En esta ocasión no he estirado tanto el chal para hormarlo y ha crecido menos que la última vez. Creo que mucho mejor, por tamaño y por no forzar el hilo.

I didn't overstretch this shawl when I blocked it so it hasn't grow as much as the last one. I think it turned out better both in size and not straining the yarn.

Otro chal para la colección de cumpleaños de mis amigas, éste se irá para el norte (¡no puedo dar más pistas!).

Another shawl for my friends' birthdays' collection. This one is travelling North, but I better not give any more clues!

Agujas: 3,5 mm.

Tamaño: 160 x 75 cm.

Patrón: scabiosa de al-abrigo, escrito con gráficos.

Modificaciones: solamente 8 vueltas del último gráfico, por pereza de querer acabar antes.

Yarn: one and a half skeins of 55% merino 45% cotton Holst Garn Coast Uld-Bomuld, colour Passion Flower.

Needles: 3.5 mm / US4.

Size: 180 x 75 cm (roughly 63" x 30").

Pattern: scabiosa by al-abrigo. Written & charted, English version available.

Mods: only 8 rows of last graphic because of my laziness, I wanted to finish it as soon as possible.

February Lady Sweater

Lace ♥ lumberjack flannels

El patrón que toda tejedora debe tejer (o eso parece), mal llamado suéter porque es una rebeca. Me costó horrores de terminar. ¡Súper aburrido! El motivo se me hizo eterno, y no hacía más que repetir, y repetir, y no se acababa nunca...

The pattern all knitter must knit (or so it seems), wrongly addressed as sweater because it is just a cardigan. It was painful to finish. So. Boring. The lace body seemed endless, just repeating and repeating and... Neverending!

En teoría lo tenía que tejer mi madre, mucho más rápida y menos quejica que yo, pero se le atragantó el motivo de tal manera que abandonó tras el canesú. Con la excusa de que no se veía bien con un color tan oscuro me dejó la peor parte, ¡ja!

It was supposedly to be knitted by mum who is way faster and less whiner than I, but she said she couldn't knit the lace and gave up after making the yoke. Her excuse was she couldn't see the stitch clearly because the yarn was pretty dark so in the end I had to work on the worst part. Ha!

Seamless!

La terminé en febrero pero no me la había puesto hasta ahora. Mal hecho: he recuperado el peso que perdí el año pasado y la rebeca me está muy justita, el canesú me tira. No me gusta llevar ropa pequeña ni la moda de ir arrepretá marcando chicha, así que espero que dé un poco de sí con el uso o me veré obligada a encerrarla en el ropero hasta que el próximo yuyu me haga volver a perder peso (¡cruzo los dedos!).

I finished it last February but I hadn't worn it yet. Bad choice: I gained the weight I had lost last year and now the cardigan is too small, the collar is very tight and uncomfortable. I don't like wearing tight clothes nor negative ease trends, so I hope the garment stretchs a little from using it or I would have to send it to exile into the wardrobe again till the next fright makes me lose weight again (crossing my fingers!).

Agujas: 4,0 mm.
Talla: XXS.
Patrón: February Lady Sweater de Pamela Wynne (pdf en Ravelry).

Mods: long sleeves (28 rep).

¿Repetiré? Lo dudo mucho tengo planeado... para alguna de mis muñecas. En talla adulto no creo; y si lo hago será usando solamente el patrón básico para después hacer el dibujo que a mí me apetezca. Y sin mangas de campana.

Will I repeat? I doubt it have plans... for any of my dolls. Adult size, I don't think so. If I knit it again, I will use the basic pattern to knit the lace I fancy. No flaring sleeves.
