$6.50 Sweater for Christmas

Finished it one year ago and worn by first time on Christmas Day. It was a pleasure to shoot the photos at my relatives' sunny and warm back yard. I lost some weight since last year and the sweater isn't a snug fit anymore, however it still is really cool. And I plan to gain some weight... someday.

Sitting in the sunshine

¡LISTO!

A very easy pattern knitted top-down with circular needles. Stripes are optional and pretty useful when you have several skeins of different colours and don't know what to do with them. I will probably knit this pattern again but one-coloured with smaller collar. I love this sweater! Even if I didn't choose the colours and still think they are too bold for me. But everyone said it looked wonderful on me so... :-)

1. Finish the sweater. There is only a cuff left, for Heaven's sake! It's been untouched for a month. That's what I call procrastinating! DONE!

He dicho. :-)

This time yours truly has gotten herself in a real jam now that she has a lot of spare time. How? You are wondering. I joined a bobbin lace workshop. This is the real dark side of crafts. Way EASIER than it looks -- come on! join me! -- and really cool. And that's all! :-)

Basic socks

¡Estrenados hoy!
¡LISTO!

Worn by first time today! They are made with that yarn I got from Germany so these simple socks are very special for me. Thanks to this pattern and Piruleta's invaluable help I learnt to knit toe-up socks. I finished them not long ago because once again they remained forgotten for months. They are super warm!
5. New projects! Several socks, pattern unchosen yet. Toe-up socks, pretty please. DONE!

Holden "Summer" Shawlette

Another Holden shawl and this one makes number two. It was a present made with a soft and warm yarn, very nice to knit with and wear. It was knitted in the summer in my secret spot at the evenings when sometimes the cool breeze blew and knitting felt comfortable enough. I had to rush because the birthday was in September!

This is my secret spot...

¡Me faltan manos!

I am not knitting a third one because I am busy... yet. Another friend who saw it just blocked fell in love with it and requested one so sooner or later I will be knitting this pattern again. I don't have enough hands!

Holden "Summer" Shawlette
...and there is plenty of sunlight there!

Yarn: one skein of Indiecita 100% merino Malabrigo Yarn Sock .
Needles: 5.00 mm (US 8).
Size: 150 x 65 cm (roughly 59"x 25.5")
Pattern: Holden Shawlette by Mindy Wilkes. Free PDF with chart (Ravelry link).
Modifications: Started lace pattern at 141 sts (2 repetitions instead of 3) as suggested by Susi and Eva. After row 38 started knitting again from row 23 to 38 repeating [ ] pattern as many times as needed. In the end I had the same stitches pattern stated but lace part was bigger and St st smaller.

Gorgeous, isn't it?

* Thank you so much Libby for giving me permission to post about your b-gift. LYLAS!

Vintage tablecloth

As Tea requested, here is a better look of the tablecloth. Very 70s looking, mom bought the fabric, cut and sewed tablecloth and six napkins and made a simple shell crochet edging. Hope you enjoy it!

¡Ah! El verano qué lejos queda... por suerte. ;-)

On that day's menu, cream of melon soup with jamon and stuffed tomatoes. Oh, summer! Looks like it happened a long time ago... better that way. ;-)

Switching projects

My life is really messy lately. During the last 6 months lots of things happened and I have been distracted. Fortunately I finished three presents this summer and managed to give them almost on time (lol) so I thought of starting another one for Christmas. I went and bought the perfect yarn, found the perfect pattern and didn't even started to cast on stitches. Why?

LFS in progress
FLS now on my needles

Mother is wanting to make a February Lady Sweater for a year or so. But she doesn't speak English, doesn't know to work top-down, don't understand seamless patterns and, of course, doesn't use the computer. I helped with the Spanish translated version, calculated stitches for our tiny size and yarn, patiently waited everytime she ripped the yoke of the cardigan and revised her increases for ranglan sleeve. And when she reached the lace pattern, she stopped knitting and said she didn't understand it, she couldn't see it due to the dark yarn we had chosen and she wasn't going to finish it unless we changed the pattern for a simpler one -- that means, a pattern she previously knows from other projects. I said no. She said then you knit this.

Upstairs in progress
Upstairs now on mum's needles

¡Socorro!

So now it's me who is slowly knitting the FLS and she who is knitting the present I want to give to a friend for Christmas. The problem is I joined two Christmas swaps, a relaxation workshop and a painting course this autumn! I just hope I don't run out of time! Help!
