Shhhh...

¡Feliz semana!
Say hello to my first creature! It was harder than expected. Have a nice week!

Tulip Stitch Facecloth

Tulip Stitch Facecloth

¡Feliz Lunes!
Tulip Stitch Facecloth
Easy and pretty stitch for my travelling facecloth

It seems the busier I am, the more I feel like making new things and trying new patterns. This weekend I took a break from making pieces for the bedspread and crocheted this facecloth. My mother said it isn't going to be of use because it's not made of cotton yarn. But it dries! :-)

Tulip Stitch Cloth
Yarn: Chiquitin 100% acrylic white.
Hook: 2.50 mm (US B-C).
Pattern: Tulip Stitch Cloth by Tea, free.
Adjustements: as the pattern asks for 4 mm (US G) hook I made twice the stitches and rows to get the 8x8 in square.
Happy Monday!

Letter N

This has been in my to-do list since I saw it months ago on Libby's blog.

Rules: Use the first letter of your name to answer each question. They have to be real places, names etc. Try to use different answers if you have the same initial as someone who has already done this. You cannot use you own name for the boy/girl question.

1. What is your name? Nuria (from Arabic Noor, meaning Light)
2. A four letter word? Nice
3. A boy's name? Nicolas
4. A girl's name? Noelia
5. An occupation? Novelist
6. A colour? Navy blue
7. Something you wear? Necklace
8. A beverage? Nestea
9. A food? Noodles
10. Something found in the bathroom? Nivea Visage
11. A place? Navarre

That was hard! Lol. Feel free to play along and have a nice weekend! :-)

Star Baby Afghan

Star Baby Afghan

Éste es el enlace: Star Afghan by The Diva Crochets!
Star Baby Afghan
I wonder why mine looks so pointed

I started this cute starghan months ago, happy to make something different and new, but after Christmas I stopped working on it because I was planning to give it to someone who didn't look very enthusiastic when I hinted her I was making something by hand. Eww! That's so old-fashioned! As there wasn't to be any other baby soon in the family/friends circle I put the yarn away.

However, reading my fav crocheters' blogs I noticed that two of them (CT & Ashley) were working in that same project right now. They're lucky enough their friends are receiving their gifts with joy and not running away or pretending to be grateful while plotting to get ride of that thing. CT has proposed to have a little CAL to have it finished for the end of June. I still don't know whom I am giving the afghan but I think it's better to finish it off and put it in a box.

The bedspread is taking up my whole spare time -yes, although not posting about the progress I'm working on it. Will I be able to make it to the deadline? Let's check again in 20 days.

Edit. Sept. 2009
I forgot to add a link to this special afghan pattern although I did on the Links page (Free patterns I have used). Thanks to Xarochita for letting me know. This is the link: Star Afghan by The Diva Crochets!

Crocheting in public

Today I took my hooks and yarns out for first time. Is a hospital room considered as a public place? I mean, there were people coming in and out. And nobody paid attention! Maybe next time I'm sitting on a solitary bench in the park. :-)

Stormkitty

Storm Trooper Hello Kitty

Que paséis una feliz semana.
Storm Trooper Hello Kitty
More dangerous than Darth Vader!

This blog receives lots of random hits, 60% of them from people searching free patterns of Hello Kitty. It seems this site appears as a result for that search. Lmao. The remaining 40% has more variety. Finally, there are the usual visitors —thanks to you I retain my sanity!

But I find these things so amusing that I'm uploading a pic of my favourite pin, the one I'm wearing on my bag everyday: Stormkitty. ;-)

Have a nice week!

Hook holder

Japanese Hook Case

Japanese Hook Case
How do you know whether they're geishas?

Because I'm full of envy and I saw everybody had one, I bought it too! Was in the mail today. I have seen some I liked at Etsy but finally decided to buy from Coyote Bean. Not only I like her work, I also had good references about it (sorry, Libby, I'm such a copycat!). She included a vintage small magazine from 1987 as a surprise gift. :-D

A hook holder/organizer made with a cute Japanese cotton fabric. I couldn't resist! Now my little steel hooks can travel with me. ;-)

Not mine!

All Hello Kitty things I crochet are taken from a Japanese book I bought last year. I cannot share those patterns here, sadly. But I found a free pattern online of a children backpack I can share with you.

Gloria, hope you and your daughter are enjoying this! :-D

Celtic knot

Celtic Knot

Celtic Knot
Doesn't it look like a Celtic knot?

Libby invited me to join a CAL* in our Ravelry group and I said yes -it seems I don't have enough unfinished projects. Thankfully this month's project was very easy: an original weaved hotpad. I reluctantly started it because I don't like 'useless' hotpads/dishcloths, my mother made more than enough years ago and the cupboards at home are full of them! Anyway, since I had said yes in the group forum -yes, I can!- I had no option but to make it. And know what? I think it's lovely and I'm really going to use it. Anyone wants one? Just tell me your fav colour. :-D

* CAL stands for Crochet Along.

Pinwheel Bedspread project

4. Hacerle un borde chulo.

¡Deseadme suerte! ;-)
Pinwheel bedspread
What I found

It seems I can't keep my hands still and I love neverending projects. Not having anything to do at the moment, I thought of making a bedspread. Told it to mother and she said we had an unfinished one somewhere, why don't you finish it. So here I am, embarking on another laborious project!

Pinwheel bedspread
Close-up

My aunt started this beadspread in the early 70s and my mother enlarged it in the 80s. I recovered it from the bottom of the Treasure Chest and am resolved to finish it... someday.

Things to do:
1. Figure out the pattern, the yarn and the hook.
2. Crochet and attach missing pieces.
3. Design the corners so they don't trail along the ground.
4. Design a nice trim.

Wish me luck! ;-)
