Rainbow Baby Afghan -2nd step

Rainbow Afghan -2nd step

I'm almost done with this! I have to make 24 little white squares and attach them to the corners of the afghan (6 each). This will make the afghan square-shaped again. Then crochet 5 more white rows and another coloured one for the trimming, but the problem is I don't know which one to choose. I'd wait until we know whether it's a girl or a boy, but I just want to finish the afghan as soon as possible before it's ruined. The green is too pale and the purple is also suposed to be girl's colour too... Don't know what to do!

Heavy rain

What you see is a view of my city. The bridge is more than 30 m. high and 25 m. wide approximately. There's a little river of only one meter wide in the bottom. Yesterday it rained so much that the water began to fall from the bridge as though a tropical waterfall (I know all the palmtrees look so Caribbean but this is Europe). It also rained in the source of the river which is 100km North of here and we received a lot of extra muddy water, so the river overflowed one meter deep and 20 wide! I tried to find this photo in the Internet, but there isn't anywhere and the devil me scanned it from today's edition of local press. It's beautiful... ♥

Apple cake

Apple cake

Apple cake
My favourite apple cake!

By popular request, here's my Apple Cake recipe!

Ingredients:
  • 100 g or ½ cup of sugar
  • 100 g or 1 cup of flour
  • 8 g or 2 tea spoons of baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 125 g or ½ cup of melted butter
  • 3 big ‘Golden Delicious’ apples (yellow apples) –they’re about 200-250 g each one.

Of course, you’ll also need:
  • Oven
  • Mixer

Instructions for baking:
  • Heat the oven at 180C/350F.
  • Peel the apples and remove their cores. Cut in pieces two of them and slice the other to decorate the cake.
  • Put sugar, flour, baking powder, eggs and butter in a mixer bowl. Add the pieces of the two apples and mix everything until it becomes mush.
  • Put the mixture in an oven plate and decorate it with the apple slices. Sprinkle sugar on it, if you like. Put the plate in the oven and bake 30-35 mins.

The result is a cake very similar to marzipan in texture, but apple flavoured. You can also use another similar fruit of your taste like pears instead of apples (just be sure to check the weight is the same).

This is my first time translating a recipe. My grammar and my vocabulary are not so good and I also use decimal system measurements, so please feel free to correct me or to ask any question!

If you're going to bake this cake and take photos, don't hesitate and show us! :-)

Rainbow Baby Afghan -1st step

Rainbow Baby Afghan

Cuteness

Yesterday I started this supercute afghan for my cousin who is expecting. She knows nothing about this, it's a surprise. :-) The yarn I'm using is very soft: Katia Peques, available in many baby colours (I couldn't believe my eyes!). I'm very happy with my choice.

Pattern available for download for 2.99$ at Leisure Arts Library.

Ravelry

¡Espero veros por allí!
Got an account at Ravelry! Why didn't I get it before? Lot of work to do now: photos to upload, needles chart to fill in, and many others. :-)
Hope to see you there!

Ghibli's Ponyo phone strap

Me encanta ¡muchas gracias!

Another of my long forgotten projects I've taken up again. Started it years ago as a home economics class project at highschool -finished one placemat and one napkin. Later at home finished the other napkin and then got tired of it.

This kind of tablecloth in Spanish it's called 'Tú y yo' ('You and I') and includes two placemats and two napkins -it's meant for a couple. I used cross-stitch embroidery for iris (at two opposite corners of the placemats and at one corner of the napkins) and border, and hemstitch and fringes for hem.
