Este lo está haciendo mi madre, aunque yo elegí los colores; son preciosos :-D

Le llevó bastante tiempo hacer las ondas correctamente, cometía los mismos fallos una y otra vez, y eso que se lo expliqué mil veces. ¡Es que tanto tiempo sin hacer ganchillo la vuelven a una más vieja de lo que realmente es!

It took her long time to make this pattern right, she kept on making the same mistakes no matter how many times I tried to explain it. Too many years without crocheting makes you old!

Little afghan

Mi primer intento de hacer una manta. Mide 40 x 40 cm y se suponía que iba a ser de tamaño grande, pero la lana era tan mala que cuando hice 16 cuadros me planté. La verdad es que así me gusta más, porque ahora tengo un asiento calentito para la silla del ordenador para los días fríos del invierno.

My first attempt at making an afghan. It's 40 x 40 cm and was intended to be a big one, but due to the wool low quality I stopped at 16 squares. This way I like it better, because now I have a cute warm cover for my desk chair to use in the winter cold days.

¿Seré capaz de terminarla algún día, siquiera de empezarla, o volveré a dejarla abandonada 10 años? Por cierto, el tapete ya se ha tragado su hermosa madeja tamaño maxi que compré hará un mes y poco. Está llegando a su fin... Ya no será para mi abuela, como le prometí, pero al menos sí lucirá en su casa cuando me mude. Espero que le guste.

Will I be able to finish it someday? To start it? Will I give it up and take it up again after 10 years? Btw, I'm making progress with the big doily and I've used the whole skein bought about a month ago. I've almost finished it. I can't give it to my grandma as I promised her, but at least I will use it in her house when I'm moving. Hope she likes it there.

He usado ya dos ovillos y el bolso aún me parece pequeño. Me temo que calculé mal el tamaño y me tocará comprar otro ovillo si quiero hacerlo más grande y hacer las dos asas.

El color es precioso. Nunca pensé que acabaría gustandome el rosa chicle, jejeje.

Estoy pensando en el forro que le voy a hacer. Me gustaría encontrar una tela de Hello Kitty, pero me temo que por aquí no voy a encontrar nada ni remotamente parecido.

I've used two balls so far and the bag is still too short. I miscalculated the size and I'll have to buy another ball to be able to enlarge the bag and make the handles.

Colour is very nice. Never thought I'd ever like bubblegum pink hehe.

¡Esta mañana ha llegado el libro de Hello Kitty! Ha tardado más de lo previsto, imagino que al ir sin certificar, Correos no se ha dado precisamente prisa. Es precioso, páginas de muy buena calidad, diseño, papel, fotografía... No creo que vuelva a mirar una revista occidental. Lo único malo es que voy a necesitar un traductor para las poquitas frases que vienen en las explicaciones.

The Hello Kitty book I ordered has arrived this morning! I didn't ask for registered mail and the Spanish postal service has been delaying the delivery -it took a week more than planned. It's wonderful: very good quality paper, photos, design. I don't think I can look at a western magazine anymore. The only bad point is... I need a translator!

¡Por fin! Mi madre apenas tardó en coserlo a máquina y ya lo tengo planchadito y listo para usar. Ahora ya puedo ir arriba y abajo por la casa sin preocuparme de que se me caigan los hilos o las agujas cuando esté haciendo algo :)

Finally it's done! My mother sewed it really quickly yesterday and it's ironed and ready to wear. Now I don't need to worry about yarns or needles falling from my hands when I'm going from one room to another while working on something :)

Apron - 3rd step

El bordado de la tela está terminado ¡al fin! Antes de empezar ya hilvané el delantal para saber dónde tendría que situar los motivos, de modo que sólo queda coserlo. Llevará una tira de puntilla blanca en los dos bolsillos como único adorno.

En un principio me encargaba yo de hacerlo por entero, pero desde que mi madre vio cómo iba quedando el bordado me ha dicho que de coserlo a máquina ya se encarga ella, porque no se fía (y hace bien) de que lo estropee en el último momento y ya no tenga arreglo el esfuerzo que he hecho hasta ahora. En teoría esto me iba a servir para aprender a manejar la máquina pero habrá que esperar...

Finally, the embroidery is finished! The apron was previously basted to know where to start it, so the only thing that's left is sewing it. I'll add a white trimming on the pockets too.

In the original plan I was the one who was going to make everything, but my mother likes the result of the embroidery a lot and doesn't want me to machine-sew it because I don't know how and she's afraid I'll ruin all the work, so she'll sew it for me. I conceived this project to learn to use the sewing machine but know I think I'll have to wait a little more...
