As we were saying yesterday, life goes on and so does the content of this crafts blog. After the knit garments for my friend's baby in my recent posts, today I am sharing the third instalment in the trilogy: a bib with the baby's name embroidered. I asked for her permission to show it here and my friend graciously allowed me. :-)
It is the same kind of bib I have stitched before (one for Pau and another for Itahisa): the name is centered and embroidered with solid letters with a simple motif on both sides in colours that complemented the same palette, in this case it was a pair of butterflies. Since my friend wanted to dress her baby in blue shades and classic lines, this design was a very easy choice.
Fluttering |
Simple and easy as it was, I learnt two new things while working on this piece. First one was using straight stitch to enhance the butterflies (they are slightly different even if they look symmetrical). Second one was burying the thread on the right side of the work —I did want to have a clean back side because the aida fabric patch was actually a pocket to make it easier to work on it. Both things were very easy to do and I ended very pleased with the result.
This was the one I liked most from all the bibs available at the crafts shop: it had that cute blue dots print on the right side, which matched my colour palette, and terrycloth on the back side, which seemed convenient (forgot to take a picture of it).

Awww.. what a lovely bib! In fact, all three items are just gorgeous! I love baby clothes especially knit / crochet and you wouldn't believe the amount of heirlooms I have preserved that my grandma had knitted for me when I was a baby! I am sure baby Naoyuki (and mama) will thoroughly enjoy these gorgeous cardies and bib made with love!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maya! I know baby Naoyuki has worn the white cardi for his first walks on the stroller, but now that we are confined at home for so long I am afraid the blue one will be too small for him once the ban is over. Knitted heirlooms are lovely, aren't they? I would love to see your collection. :-)
DeleteStay safe & crochet on!
I like the bib you made and the two sweaters Alhana. You are so talented and you did a great job! I hope all is well with you and that you are staying safe. Be well and have a nice week. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie! I had so much fun working on this set, too bad there aren't more babies around me. We are confined at home for over two weeks now and not being able to go out feels stuffy, but we are doing our best to help keeping this pest under control.
DeleteStay safe & have a nice week as well! :-)
The bib is really cute so congratulations on designing a very good looking one. I'm sure it was exciting and fun for your friend to receive such lovely handmade gifts. We must carry on and be as normal as we can in these trying times. It's always good to read your blog posts.
ReplyDeleteHave a great, productive week!
Thank you, Toni! I had asked her what she needed and which style she liked, and worked as requested, so it was very easy to please her. :-) We are trying to live as normally as we can despite being confined in our tiny flat for twenty days now. Worrying over it won't resolve anything. :-)

DeletePetonets ♥
What wonderful baby gifts! Little Naoyuki will be the best-dressed baby around :) Making gifts for babies is always such fun.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are staying well and enjoying your extra crafting time... Take good care now ♥
Thank you so much, Carol! I love making little garments, babies look their best when dressed in handmade clothes, don't you think? As I don't have a courtyard to take strolls nor a garden to tend, reading and crafting are my only available hobbies now. Time to make some progress. :-)
DeleteStay safe.
ReplyDelete¡Muchas gracias, Modistilla!
DeleteBesos.
3 trabajos preciosos, los suéteres de lujo. Te extrañaba
ReplyDeleteGracias, Eli. Yo también a vosotras. Poco a poco volvemos a la normalidad.
