Summer indolence

My yearly spring crisis is finally over. It has been shorter than usual yet stronger, and without delay the dreadful summer has come to stay, to nobody's surprise.

June is almost over too and I haven't published, crafted, sketched or done anything at all but lie on the bed during the hottest hours and desperately gasp everytime I open the fridge.

My hands started peeling a few weeks ago and I know what it means: no more crafting for me. No touching anything with my sticky fingers. Absolutely no touching fine materials with my greasy fingers. No matter how much hand cream you apply, tomorrow another patch of skin will peel off. Oh, summer, disgusting summer!

Days feel heavy on us. This cloudy sky never breaks as it doesn't carry rain, it is just the result of this intense heat near the sea and the orchards. Wind is quiet. Night temperatures don't drop below 25 C (77 F) and the atmosphere has no time to cool before the sun rises again.

And this is just the beginning...

But not everything is bad: my little plants love this weather and grow and sprout, fulfilling my dreams of having a small garden of my own —even if this is the only happiness summer can bring me. Here you can see another picture of this cute 'asparagus' I found this week on watering day. :-)

Time to celebrate and cheer myself up: I hereby promise to knit or crochet something, even if I can only do it at those rare afternoons at the beach with soothing breeze —will be extra careful with sand!—. To fight laziness and publish pending projects. To not let this sweltering weather beat me.

Happy incoming Dog Days to you, who live anywhere but here...
See you soon

      Besotes.

  2. Well, here in my corner of the world it feels like November and I swear to God we've got the temperatures to prove it! We are experiencing the wrath of the cyclone they named Silvia and it looks like Silvia is having PMS tantrums. It is pure luck for all that rain we haven't had any floods (fingers crossed we won't)but on the other hand nothing can beat the experience of eating watermelon in your boots near the fireplace ,... haha just joking - this was actually the most shared joke on social media these days. And Silvia has been here for whole two weeks. We wonder if we are going to have a real summer this year. So, I am a bit jealous of your sunny days...

    1. Dear Maya, I would switch places with you at this very moment if I could. We haven't heard of Silvia around here, although there have been summer storms (not in the exact spot where I live though). Hoping you won't have floods and that rain is just nurturing for the soil! :-) Picturing myself near a fireplace, playing with yarn and hearing the rain on the window, maybe with a cup of tea by my side, sounds simply blissful right now.
Have a nice and sunny weekend!

      Un beso, Ana María.
