Chinese Denim Tote Bag

Delantero vaquero

¡Me encantó!

Chinese Denim Tote Bag
Patrón: 241 Tote de Noodlehead
Telas: loneta "jarrón chino", tela vaquera y algodón de Julián López (detalles aquí)
Realización: Sentarse a coser

Esperando mimitos

Internet is full of wonderful people. Or rather I should say the world is, because yes, there is life beyond our screens. ;-) But truth is Internet has allowed me to meet many interesting and like-minded people who share my hobbies and I couldn't have met otherwise.

One of these people is Mary Carmen, from the Spanish blog Sentarse a coser. We both joined the same Christmas Swap last year (sorry I haven't posted what I made yet) although we didn't end up as partners. Mary Carmen uploaded a very promising sneak peek of her project, a picture of a lovely yellow print with Chinese figurines and I couldn't resist leaving a comment praising it. I loved it!

You cannot foresee what are the results of your words and actions in this world. One thing leads to another and before I knew it she sent me a message in April saying she had "a little surprise" for me. I confess I cannot resist such a sweet bait! I was dying to know what it could be.

What a suprise when I received quite a big parcel!  That wasn't any "little" thing, but a handmade tote bag made with denim and that wonderful yellow canvas print. I can't describe how excited and moved I was when I saw it, or how much I played opening and closing all the pockets, zippers and carabiners. ♥

Needless to say, the stitching and finishing are simply perfect. Mary Carmen even included a toilet bag or coin purse (depending of how you use it) matching the bag lining, where she sewed her custom label. Isn't it pretty?

I am not sure whether I prefer the bag's front or back. My perfectionist side says I should wear the front with the yellow pocket looking outward like a good girl, but at the same time I want to show the back fabric and protect the pocket from light-fingered hands. Because this bag couldn't be more "me" even if Mary Carmen had sent a survey before selecting the pattern and materials: it has Chinese print, denim fabric, striped fabric, tote style, lots of pockets...

And I better stop here before starting showing (too much) off. Aren't I blessed with lots of great friends? For those of you who are curious and want to know a bit more about the bag or maybe even sew one for yourself, these are the technical details:

Chinese Denim Tote Bag
Pattern: 241 Tote from Noodlehead
Fabrics: "Chinese jar" canvas print, denim and cotton from Julián López (more about them here in Spanish)
Made by: Sentarse a coser

I cannot wait to start feeling well enough to go out and wear my new bag. Sadly, this spring my allergies had striken with all their might and I am currently confined at home, surrouned by hot cups of tea, bowls of soup and a huge quantity of paper tissues, so this beauty will have to wait a bit more before venturing outdoors for a walk and seeking out new adventures.

By the way, I didn't got this bag from a barter, unlike some other goodies I shared here before, but this is a present Mary Carmen kindly sent me and she doesn't expect anything in return. What a fool! She thinks she can get away from me this easily, bwahaha. Wait until I get better and can get my hands to work. Meanwhile I will keep thinking and plotting: what would she like? ;-)

Thank you so much, dear Mary Carmen, you couldn't have made me happier.
A million hugs to you, I owe you one.

See you soon!

      Un besote.
