BAMCAL 2016 — December

Christmas Granny Square
Edelweiss

Muchas gracias por seguir leyéndome en este 2018.
Hasta la próxima.

Happy New Year! Does anyone remember that BAMCAL I joined in 2016? A sharp reader would have noticed by now that December's entry never got to the blog and the '12 months, 12 granny squares' project never got its wrapping up post.

Yours truly met the deadline fair and square: granny was done before December 31st and picture taken shortly after. The problem that prevented me from posting at the time is irrelevant right now so I have a proposal for you: let us close our eyes and pretend that the year that just ended wasn't 2017 but 2016 and it hasn't been thirteen months since I posted November's. What do you say? ;-)

Following the scheme of the previous months, it was no big surprise that we got yet another seasonal-themed design for December: Christmas, of course. But due to the colours I had chosen for my BAMCAL what I ended with wasn't a tacky Christmassy granny square but a pretty wintery Edelweiss blossom. What a surprising happy ending!

Christmas Granny Square
Yarn: Katia Fama 100% acrylic in dark purple (615), light green (607), & light blue (503).
Hook: 3.5 mm / US E.
Size: 12 cm / 6".
Pattern: Christmas Granny Square by ag handmades (free written pattern).

My CAL adventure ends thus. I couldn't be happier to have finished this goal within time even if I am publishing one year late [insert any plausible excuse here] and, why not, to have gotten rid of it.

Following the herd, with all due respect, is not my thing. Not being able to choose pattern also got in the way and in the end I didn't have fun joining. Or maybe I just have had enough crocheted granny blankets for a lifetime and it is time to move on. Anyway, it has been very satisfying to accomplish one of my goals for the year and I am sure all these lovely grannies will come in handy in the not-so-distant future. :-)

Thank you so much for also being there in 2018.
See you next time!

  1. I don't think it really matters that it was not done in time. What matters is that you enjoyed working on it and finished it. It looks lovely. I never take part in any such challenges, although I was tempted lots of time, but my crazy schedule and the way I am running things do not allow for anything extra, so I take joy in watching others project spring up. Happy new year again! Let creativity fill this one too :)

    1. Thanks, Maya! Being able to finish it within deadline along other participants was a personal achievement. I tend to abandon projects or leave them for later and this was a big hurdle for me to overcome. And I did it! :-) From now on I will set my own pace and simply enjoy knitting and crocheting what I like.
Happy & Creative New Year! ♥
