On my needles — May

English

¡Feliz semana!

May: warm weather, more sunlight, end of term... I have finished and sent all the swaps I have been working during these spring months and now it is time for a break. Outdoors? Not really because there are allergies and other things out there, you know, but lying on the sofa at home I can relax very well too. ;-)

And so I have little to show you this month. I have been...

Knitting

Ombre Tank
Pink lightsaber needles & Green yarn cakes

1. It is time to pick up my Ombre Tank again. I realised I didn't like the waist shaping decreases and frogged everything but the jeans blue section. Now I am knitting it straight like Scabiosa Top since I am using the same yarn and cast on the same number of stitches.

Crocheting

2. After finishing my 'Canvi de Mans' swap I am only crocheting this month's BAMCAL 2016 square since it is relax time.

Stitching & Bobbinlace

3. Nothing! Relax, relax!

Watching

4. Sila (Sıla). I leveled up my nerd side by switching to Turkish soap operas. I absolutely love them! However I am watching the Latinamerican & Brazilian dubbed versions and I am not happy because the amount of cut and censored scenes is insane. I wish they added subtitles to the original one!

Reading

5. Toward the sea of freedom, by Sarah Lark, in Spanish. First book of the Kauri trilogy. Same subject, different story. I would like to read about normal women who weren't being continously raped, abused or beaten and got to live a happy married life but I am afraid that isn't appealing enough to publishers.

6. Im Schatten des Kauribaums, by Sarah Lark, in Spanish (no English edition yet). Second book of the same trilogy. I love the prominence given to the suffragists (New Zealand was the first country to grant the women the right to vote) but I am very annoyed about the topical lesbian relationships between artists as if all of them had been like that! Oh, and more abusing. :-(

And that was all for today. Little, right? As I said, I am relaxing.
I have more projects in mind, some of them urgent, but those are for next month.
Thank you very much for reading! Have a nice week.

  2. Yay! It's good to take a break and just relax with a simple knitting project. Your tank will be gorgeous.

What's up with modern authors? I have a book on my table that begins with such stupidity I can't bring myself to read it. And I refuse to read books with a agenda to pervert wholesome character.

    Wishing you lovely week!

    1. Honestly, I don't know. I think they're all out of ideas and are trying to sell whatever is on vogue. I still have to find an author I'm confortable with or I'll end reading Austen's works once again.

Would you let me recommend a really good Spanish book? I'm sure you'll love it. It shows how it's perfectly possible to write a modern book without stooping to such strategies. Let me know what you think, it's one of my favourites: The Time In Between.

      Have a nice week!
