On my needles — February

2. Aprendiendo a tejer estilo continental.

Cosiendo

Biscornu in the making
¡Fresas en febrero!

We are having sudden cold blasts after several weeks over 20C (68F). What the..?! I was already planning my summer trousseau but had to stop and grab my woollen sweaters and socks from the wardrobe. I don't think I will get anything done till next year with all this weather craziness and changing plans.

That said, I am currently...

Knitting

Continental knitting
Ha! Tricky selfie

1. A summer top with cotton leftovers from my piperitas (1, 2), scabiosa and another new skein (green, obviously) that I never used nor returned to the yarn shop. They told me to exchange it but I am not fond of bargaining like that. It has been patiently waiting for a nice project and now it is time for her to go with her yarn siblings to be part of a striped sleeveless top.

2. Learning continental style knitting. 20 cm (8 in) and 10 days later I am able to knit at an acceptable speed without too many mistakes —only frogged thrice. That is all I can do for now.

3. Looking for the perfect pattern and yarn for a new shawl. OK not knitting yet but planning is part of the process! ;-)

Crocheting

4. February's square for BAM CAL 2016: Granny Heart Square, which is the smallest. It has a heart, couldn't be otherwise in the love month. Will post it soon. Stay tunned!
Stitching

Biscornu in the making
Strawberries in February!

5. Finished the cross-stitch present I was making last month (hand-sewn).

6. And the Moroccan cushion that has been wandering around this blog for years (machine-sewn!).

Bobbin lace

Fluffy lace

7. Nothing! I deserve a rest after last month silly strip, shown on the photo. I am just teaching mum the basics of bobbin lace.>

Watching

8. Still Please, mom (부탁해요, 엄마). It went from a light hearted family comedy to a illness melodrama. :-( That is the result of top ratings: extending the duration with new chapters, stretching the story and giving the middle-aged audience a good sobbing ending.

Reading

9. Peony by Pearl S. Buck, in Spanish. Never expected it from this author but I find this book very dull and bothersome. Tried alternating it with other book but still...

10. The Rabbi by Noah Gordon, in Spanish. Finally a book from this terrific writer without surgeries or autopsies! Suitable to weak stomachs like mine. Quite good it but I still prefer his stories located in Europe.

I set up the pace and am feeling more and more comfortable. Can you tell I got my stuff sorted and organised?
Moreover, I agreed to two swap offers!! I will keep you posted.
Thank you very much for your patience reading this further.

    1. Pues podría estar haciendo muchas más cosas, creo yo. La pereza me puede. ;-)

      Abrígate mucho, besos.

  4. You are so productive! I love the cross-stitch strawberries and the Moroccan cushion.
So, have you been sewing with your machine besides hand-sewing? Love the lace, it's so airy and light looking. I wish I was disciplined enough to practice knitting continental-style. I'm a lazy, English-style knitter. :(

I thought you might like some cool air so I put in an order for it. ;) Enjoy wearing your gorgeous sweaters!

    Have a chilly day!

    1. Yes! I was given permission to use the machine to back the cushion. How cool is that? :D
I'm also a lazy English-style knitter but I need to let my right wrist rest (being a lacemaker and a gamer doesn't help either) so I thought I could do some continental knitting on a simple Stockinette project. I need to switch yarn to right hand for dec/inc though.
Thanks for the chilly winds! Could I ask for some rain next time, please? ;-)
      Stay warm!

    1. Thank you! Having so much on my hands makes me a slow crafter but I just can't choose one of them and focus —seems unfair.
