BAMCAL 2016 — January

Circled Granny Square

Circled Granny Square
Acid Circled Granny Square

January is almost ending (where did time go?) and as promised here is my monthly square for BAMCAL 2016. Actually blocking and taking the picture took me longer than crocheting the granny. lol We had three patterns available and I chose the smaller one (6"). Crocheting with Spanish yarn (which is thinner) and a smaller hook gave me a smaller square. I intend this to be the keynote for this CAL in order to unify all the grannies.

Mavi's lovely baby blanket in acid colours was my inspiration. I used the leftovers from my TEJUCA project, choosing similar colours to hers and trying to get the same effect.

Usually I wouldn't have chosen such cold colours but this combination caught my eye right away. Now I am in a predicament: should I keep on using these blueish shades all year long or let the monthly pattern inspire me? My mind is screaming for some more yellow and less blue but also don't want to end with a bunch of assorted rainbow grannies. Hm, will try to make up my mind for February's.

If so, would you kindly leave me a comment so I can see your granny square? And if not, come on and join us! ;-)

That's all folks! (was short, wasn't it?)
Thank you very much for your visit! Have a nice weekend.

  3. Wow, that's a great color combination. Love the square, too. It reminds me of Native American dream catchers. I would love to join a cal, but I just recently decided to finish some long overdue UFOs. There are several hiding in containers in the corner behind furniture in my bedroom. O.O Yes, I'm the worst.
Dream catchers here if you haven't heard of them: http://www.123rf.com/stock-photo/dreamcatcher.html

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. You're right, maybe the designer based her pattern on a dreamcatcher? Only the suspended feathers are out.
Oh! Don't worry you're not the worst, at least your containers in the corner are hidden. Mine are visible! ;-)
Stay warm and enjoy the weekend!
