Summer dragonflies for a summer girl

You may have noticed it has been a while since I published something knitted. I don't feel like knitting at all! We are enduring one of those heat waves for 3 weeks that don't let you go out in the daytime or sleep at nights. We are coping with that as best we can. One of the few things I feel like doing when I am not laying on the couch is cross-stitch.

It was Cotonet's birthday some days ago. She is a restless girl who likes to collect pretty fabrics, bakes delicious cakes or surprises you with homemade soap among other things. We met at the lace training we took some years ago and have been together since, with another friend, learning new things and supporting and helping each other.

I made this biscornu as a birthday present for her to use as pincushion when making lace, cross-stitch or whatever other craft that never-resting head of hers may think up. I chose this dragonfly design which I found lovely thinking she would like these colours. ✿

Those who are unfortunate to be born are born in summer don't usually receive knitted presents and it is just the opposite for those born in winter. It hasn't been different this time. Sorry! Next time I will plan it ahead of time and will knit you a pair of socks so your feet don't get cold in the swimming pool. ;-)

    1. Thanks! I think so too, they remind me of my holidays at the beach. Early in the morning I always found two or three of them lazily flying in the sand. :-)
She does beautiful things indeed and many of them perdurable and eaten long time ago! ;-)
It can't last, right? I keep dreaming of October...

  7. What a gorgeous gift! Your stitching is wonderful. I should really go and finish a cross stitch picture I've been working on for years. Here's hoping the heat wave will break for you soon. : )

    1. Thanks! Truth to be said it's much better now than a few years ago when I stitched whole crosses without planning my way. I've fixed that.
Do find time for that picture! I'd love to see it. Wishes for cooler weather for you too. :-)
