A pesar de que en invierno
la humedad rompe los huesos,
y en verano el sol te juzga sin piedad;

¡Empezamos!

All Hallows' Day

Don Juan Tenorio

Por donde quiera que fui,
la razón atropellé
la virtud escarnecí,
a la justicia burlé
y a las mujeres vendí.

Yo a las cabañas bajé,
yo a los palacios subí,
yo los claustros escalé
y en todas partes dejé
memoria amarga de mí.

Denim Piperita

There are many ways to cook this dish, which name literally means crumbs. They can be made from breadcrumbs and from flour. This is the recipe my family uses for the flour-made dish.

Ingredientes / Ingredients:

  • ½ kg. harina /flour.
  • 3 vasos agua / cups of water.
  • 1 vaso aceite / cup of olive oil.
  • 1 manojo ajos tiernos / bunch of green garlic.
  • 1 ñora seca / nyora (dried red round pepper).
  • 1 cucharada rasa de sal (sopera) / table-spoonful of salt.
  • Embutido: longaniza roja y blanca, tocino. / Sausages: red and white, pork fat.

Migas Ruleras

Fry the sausages, pepper and garlic with oil and keep aside. Do not throw out the oil.

Migas Ruleras

Put the water in another frying pan and heat. When it's warm, add the flour and salt and knead it with a wooden spatula. When they're done, pour the oil slowly and keep stirring and kneading.

Migas Ruleras

Finally, add the sausages and it's ready! We use to eat migas when it's rainy - something that rarely happens around here. :-)

This time we hadn't pork fat nor green garlic, so we used a couple of cloves of garlic instead. It was delicious anyways. Libby, hope you enjoy this. ;-)

Dried figs

I'm always complaining: I'd like it to rain more often, I'd love to live a in a green place, I wish I lived in England. But when it comes to times like this, I'm grateful I live in the most arid area of Spain. Oranges, almonds, dates, pommegranates and figs, I'm so lucky to have an easy access to these delicacies.

Dried figs
I've already eaten two or three

I don't like fresh figs or early figs, I find their crunchy taste somewhat gross, but I love dried figs, they're my favourite Christmas fruit/candy. If you open them and fill them with an almond, they taste even better, my grandma taught me this and called them "figs with tricks".

A relative of mine come to visit and gave me a basket full of dried figs and almonds. He has dried and boiled them himself to make sure they don't have any visitor (a.k.a. bug) in them. Christmas treats in the middle of the summer? Yay! Oh, and let me tell you, they're absolutely mouth-watering, the sweetest figs I've ever eaten.

Dried figs
Mouth-watering! :-)~

What you see is a view of my city. The bridge is more than 30 m. high and 25 m. wide approximately. There's a little river of only one meter wide in the bottom. Yesterday it rained so much that the water began to fall from the bridge as though a tropical waterfall (I know all the palmtrees look so Caribbean but this is Europe). It also rained in the source of the river which is 100km North of here and we received a lot of extra muddy water, so the river overflowed one meter deep and 20 wide! I tried to find this photo in the Internet, but there isn't anywhere and the devil me scanned it from today's edition of local press. It's beautiful... ♥
