Mini Wisp

Here is a project I finished just a year ago. I knitted it between April and May, stored it up without blocking nor weaving ends and tried to forget about it. Why? It was too hard to knit. Partly because of the pattern, which isn't appealling to me at all, and partly because of my own feelings at that time. When I am planning new project, I usually look at most popular patterns in Ravelry. Usually, it is love at first sight. However, Wisp was hate.

Green will-o'-the-wisp

I admit other Wisps I have seen look very beautiful, and you shoud not keep my words at heart and dismiss this pattern. It may be perfect for you! But sadly, not for me. Had lots of problems with fishnet lace. How are you supposed to k2tog when one of the stitches is a yo from previous row?! It was taking forever for a little scarf planned to just use up remaining yarn from another project. Perhaps this is not the best yarn to try out new stitches but it didn't turn well for me.

This entry is dedicated to Merchy, who started this KAL with me but gave up -- and I don't blame her.

Big Snow Scarf

Remember my Big Snow scarf I made last summer? At that time it was awfully hot and couldn't take proper shots but thanks to this unusual cold winter I was able to wear it.

Big Snow Scarf

Despite its appearance it's really warm. Great yarn once you tame it onto your needles!

Big Snow Scarf

It's pretty long, almost 6' and I'm just 5'2"! I can wear it folded in two but I prefer it over my shoulders like a chunari (shawl).

Yarn: 1 skein of Katia Big Snow in green shades. 100% microfiber.
Needles: 6 mm / US10.
Pattern: Cast on 11 stitches. Work in garter stitch until you run out of yarn. Finish off: sew in the ends with thread of the same colour.
Tips: Better use the single cast-on method with this yarn, I tried the long tail cast-on many times before giving up. Knit carefully the first two or three rows, those knots are treacherous and may get entangled. ;-)
