On my needles — August

English

He estado...

Calcetando

Rainbow Shawl
Melena de león y bolso ovejil

Holidays are over, good life at the beach balcony is over but they will always be in our hearts. I wish I can go back next year too! Needless to say, I will bring all my knitting supplies with me so I have anything I need. And some earplugs. ;-)

What with one thing and another this was a low activity month, as it should. I have been...

Knitting

Rainbow Shawl
Rainbow lion mane & Sheep bag

1. My Ravellenic Games project with terribe results as you can read about here. I keep on trying now that I am home with the temperature some degrees higher and no balcony but no TV either.

Crocheting

2. August BAMCAL 2016 granny square. Almost ran out of time because I completely forgot before the holidays!

Stitching

3. Or better said, unstitching: my summer blouse. New status: adjourned sine die. This is what happens when you put together a sewing ignoramus unable to explain whatever ideas she has in mind and a wilful mother but limited resources. Maybe next summer. :-(

Watching

4. The Olympic Games!

Reading

5. Still Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell, in Spanish. It is over a thousand pages! The (re)read of the summer.

Between the season typical laziness and my daily two hours naps looks like this month I am on fire.
Let us hope I will get back on track again in the autumn...
Thanks for reading! Have a nice weekend!

  1. The rainbow lion mane on your needles looks intriguing. Love the sheep bag, too. Before a made them, I don't know how I existed without bags for my knitting.
We had 5 days of weather that was hot, but it was cooler than the high 90s. It was glorious.
    Send fall already! ;)

    1. This is the bag I traded for a shawl last year. I always carried the yarn in plastic bags before, yuck! The rainbow strip is the outer border of a shawl, it is one of those bottom-up patterns where you start with a lot of stitches and decrease until there are only 3 left. A hint: you have seen it on this blog before. ;-)
Summer is glorious as long as it is cool enough at nights to allow people a comfortable sleeping.
      Wishing you cooler evenings!

  2. Your knitting looks good to me though a bit challenging - maybe because I haven't touch my knitting needles for years now...
I have seen the film like a thousand times, but have never read the book. I might look it up in the library next time.

    1. I enjoy a bit of a challenge on my knitting projects so I won't get bored. Give the book a try if you can, characters are better developed and there are some deep stories that didn't make it to the film — I have watched it many times too, an all time favourite!
      Have a nice weekend.

Feliz regreso a la rutina y felices costuras. Besos.

  5. Hello Alhana, enjoy working on your knitting project. I have not read the book but have seen the movie many times. I was visiting my mom last weekend and I knitted a little pouch to keep my ear plugs in. That is my only project that I have really worked on in a long time. Once the weather gets cooler then I will be knitting or crocheting more.
I hope you have a lovely week.

    1. Hello Julie! I usually don't knit or crochet in the summer, it is too hot for yarns here where I live. However this year I tried because there was the Olympics event at Ravelry. I am waiting for the cooler temperatures too.
Thanks for visiting! Have a nice week.

  6. ¡Oooooh! ¿Abandonaste la blusa? Snif, snif😢😢😢. ¿No estaba quedando cómo querías?

      Besotes

  7. I admire how you work towards these personal goals...and achieve them! You remind me of a friend here who is an avid reader. She has goals like # of pages read each year, series that must be completed, etc etc. Even through her migraines, she finds time to work towards her book goals. And me? I'm trying to remember the last book I read for pleasure. :-)

    1. I cannot live without (fiction) books! Even when I was supposed to study for my university entrance exams I was actually enjoying The Lord of the Rings to my colleagues dismay. ;-) My only goal is being more organised and getting some work done and not just planned. These monthly check-ups help me achiev that — at least this is what I like to think!
