Sunrise Sunset - blocking

All 150 squares are done and sewn together. Still cannot grasp what's this blocking thingy for but if everybody else is doing it and speaks wonders of it, I guess I have to try a couple of times or so before judging it useless - trying to block Mrs. Darcy was a dead loss. Mum is still in favour of just ironing it after washing and she complains a lot everytime I ask her to help me pinning and tell her this is something we must do in order to have the item perfectly finished. Old school! ;-)

It was so big we had to block it on the carpet and I thought of taking this photo of my feet on it, inspired by Solveig's Nordic feet gallery. These are my Iberian feet. :-D

¡Feliz domingo! Febrero ya está aquí.

After crocheting the border the afghan will be ready to enjoy and luckily it will be still chilly around here. Have a nice Sunday and stay warm! February is here.

  1. I can't tell you what a fantastic job you have made of this! Its so pretty. I just love the colours.
When I was crocheting in my early 20's I never once 'blocked' anything. I had never heard of it. It's only since I've been on Flickr that I have heard the phrase 'blocking'. Some of the squares are coming in 'blocked' some aren't. They do have a nicer effect much flatter and neater. I'm just so grateful to get the squares in!
Well I think it looks fantastic you should be very proud of yourself with a bit of mom's help!
Thanks for showing it to us.
    Hugs and Love Suex

  5. Alhana, this is beautiful! Yes, blocking it will be worth the wait. ;-) Now, who gets to put this beauty on the bed? I'm also noticing that your other projects are nearing their completion as well. Congrats!

  7. Wow! Your blanket is a very impressive project! I really like the pictures, too. :) There are so many ways to block, I find it difficult to wait for this type, but I think it is best and will let you really enjoy your beautiful handiwork.

It's very, very cold here; everything is frozen, and I'm looking forward to spring. The sooner, the better.

  10. Thank you all! :-D

@Sue: I just heard of 'blocking' through blogs and had to learn myself, but I must say it's worth the wait.

    @Alessandra: you made me blush!!

@Siona: muchas gracias.

@Gene: it's a beautiful pattern. I'm looking forward to see yours.

@Libby: it's meant for the living-room but I guess it eventually will end up on her bed. ;-)

@Tea: I didn't know there were many ways to block, I didn't even know there was something like 'blocking' at all! I just washed and ironed things after finishing them.

@Felicity: it has helped a lot. The blanket grew a few inches too after getting the right shape!
